Instrumental music inspired by song is the theme of our opening concert with the acclaimed Lark Piano Trio and friends in a programme
focused on one of the most iconic of chamber music masterpieces, Schubert’s ‘Trout’ Quintet. In this much-loved work, composed after an
idyllic summer sojourn in the Austrian Alps, Schubert’s imagination soars, wonderfully capturing the natural world in the variations on his famous song Die Forelle, ‘The Trout’. The programme opens with a clutch of song-infused pieces by Schubert, Schumann and Judith Weir.

This concert is dedicated to the memory of our friend and former Concert Secretary, Dr Ahilya Noone.
