Mozart
Trio in E major K542
Smetana
Trio in G minor Op 15
Brahms
Trio No 2 in C major Op 87
These three distinguished international musicians come together regularly to perform some of the greatest works in the chamber music repertoire in important concert halls around the world. Smetana is best-known for big nationalist works like Ma Vlast. But his piano trio is deeply personal – a fervently expressed attempt to come to terms with his grief over the death of his young daughter.
In complete contrast Brahms’s C major trio is filled with the joy and confidence of a composer at the peak of his career. The usually modest Brahms told his publisher “You have not so far had such a beautiful trio from me and very probably have not published one to match it in the last ten years.”
“The sound this trio produces is intoxicating, their style is simply perfect...” Harmonie
