We are delighted to be able to open our season with Roderick Williams, one of Britain’s most distinguished and best-loved singers, and the award-winning Carducci Quartet. Roderick, who gained many new fans world-wide with his performance at the coronation, is also a talented composer. Premiered at the Aldeburgh Festival in 2023, his arrangement for baritone and string quartet of the first of Schubert’s great song cycles, ‘The Beautiful Miller’s Daughter’, was acclaimed as a triumph.

The Carducci Quartet have always been admired for their imaginative programming. In 2016 they won a Royal Philharmonic Society Award for their immense cycle of Shostakovich’s 15 Quartets performed across the UK, North and South America.
